Igloos - they're multiplying

Blacksheep IglooPerched high above Plagne Village is the Blacksheep igloo village. It’s mis-named really as it’s not an igloo village - it’s a single igloo the size of a village! Within the large snow mound the owners have crafted several sleeping chambers, a bar, a kitchen and eating area. Each is decorated with ice sculptures and snow carvings that bring the spaces alive.

Would be Inuits can book in for dinner, or better still, dinner, bed & breakfast.

It’s a simple walk from the car park above Ice & Fire’s chalet Bon Vie to the igloo.

The igloo’s situation is fabulous; high above La Plagne with magnificent views of the mountains and the valley below. As dusk falls and the night descends, the mountains have a unique stillness which is so special – almost as if they are breathing again after the business of the day has been completed.

After check in your evening repas starts with an apéritif around the firepit and continues indoors with a Savoyard fondue. For those staying overnight, you get a cosy sleeping bag, pillow, towel and space in one of the sleeping chambers. You can book a single chamber for the whole family or share with others.

Toilet and washing facilities are adequate but basic.

In the morning you awake on the mountain to hopefully see the sunrise – and that’s very special.

Booking couldn’t be simpler – just head to and sign up!
