From Calais it takes about 10 hours including a few rest stops on the way. It is toll road nearly all the way to the valley, easy to navigate.
Why drive? One of the advantages of driving is that you can travel on Saturday and stay overnight somewhere close by. You can then arrive at your chalet early on the Sunday morning and go straight out for a ski!We are happy to welcome you early and have facilities to store your luggage until your rooms are ready.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay for an overnight stop on the way, then please don’t hesitate to get in contact and we will be able to suggest some suitable options.
Driving in France
Please remember that France has slightly different driving laws from the UK.
You will need headlamp deflectors, high visibility vests and a warning triangle in case you break down.
You will also need to carry chains in the car, this is obligatory on the mountain roads. There are many areas for putting on and taking off snow chains on the roads coming up the mountain called “aire de chainage”. It is always best to put the snow chains on before attempting a steep mountain road if it is snowing.
In France you can buy snow chains at nearly all of the petrol stations but please be aware that on Sundays only the motorway stations will be open. You can still fill up everywhere using automated pumps with a card.
For directions to your chalet please see the maps on the individual chalet pages.

The Paradiski area is ideally situated within easy driving distance from four international airports.
Chambery
A 90-minute drive to our chalets, this is the closest airport. Chambery is a small, efficient airport with an ever-expanding number of UK flights.
Geneva
Located 2.5 hours from our chalets, it is the most popular local airport for travel. Geneva has a large selection of budget and upmarket airlines, with flights from all around the UK and worldwide landing regularly.
Lyon
2.5 hours from our chalets, Lyon also offers a good selection of flights from all around the UK, as well as a lot of other international options.
Grenoble
Grenoble, 2.5 hours from our chalets, is a winter season only airport specializing in budget airlines, many flying from UK regional airports.
Whichever airport you choose to travel to, we recommend using a flight comparison site like Sky Scanner to compare times and prices to get the best deal for your group.
The most cost effective solution for larger groups.
Private transfers are the ideal way to get you from the airport to your chalet in comfort.
If you are travelling as a group of 4 or more then private transfers are usually the best option for travel from the airport. Private transfers give you sole use of a chauffeured minibus meeting you directly from your flight and taking you straight to your chalet.
On the return journey you are picked up from your chalet and driven directly to the airport in time for check-in.

Snow Drone – snow-drone.comThe ideal airport transfer solution for solo travellers and small groups.
A shared transfer is a minibus or bus from the airport that you will share with other travellers on similarly timed flights. Shared transfers are a comfortable, cost effective solution for solo travellers and small groups, but you do need to be aware that you are likely to have a short wait on arrival and departure, as often fellow travellers are arriving on multiple flights.
It is a good idea to check shared transfer availability before booking your flight if possible. When you book your transfer you will need to provide your flight times, flight numbers, and how many people are travelling. A few days before you travel you will then receive exact information about where and when to meet your driver at the airport.
Below are some suggestions of companies offering shared transfers. Many of the shared transfer options run to Aime or Bourg St Maurice and we can usually pick you up from there free of charge – please contact us to check availability.
