Why book a holiday this late in the season? During the dark months of December and January the skiing can be amazing but it can also be very cold and stormy. Leaving your ski holiday until later in the season has many benefits!
Not only does La Plagne boast a great on average 2m snow base, making it pretty snow sure for the entire season. We also get a lot of sunshine in the months of March and April! A whopping 25% of Brits are lacking in Vitamin D and taking a ski trip could be a great way to help! (We don’t think the idea will hold up to your boss though!) Getting some much needed Vitamin D whilst enjoying your tartiflette on top of the mountain in the sun can also help with energy levels, digestion (for all that chalet food!) immune support, bone structure and also its great for your mental health too!
There are so many reason to come and stay in the Alps at the end of the season! Let’s take a look at a few!
La Plagne as we said above is well known for its snow levels, but with temperatures reaching around 16 degrees in April, you could consider it a sun holiday! It doesn’t sound too hot but you’ll certainly tan! (wind burn doesn’t count!) So make sure to pack your sunscreen!!
Our hot tubs in Chalet Campanules and Chalet Ancolies are both outside, meaning you can brave the snow or enjoy them on the hot days. All of the chalets have some outdoor space to relax in, take in the views or drink your cocktail and nibble on Canapés. If your lucky enough for sunrise and sunset, the sun will hit Mont Blanc lighting it up a beautiful orange colour, making for perfect holiday pictures!
Towards the end of the season a lot of bars, restaurants, public places have end of season events. These sometimes include things like pond skimming (it’s basically a slope with a pool at the end which you need to make your way across, although if you fall in you’ll get soaked!) inflatables, giveaways, competitions, extra DJs or live music, food tasting, free hot drinks, the list goes on.
The glacier here in La Plagne is open all year round but its spectacular on a hot bluebird day. You can see a lot of surrounding resorts and mountains for miles. The glacier is also home to Grottes des Glacé, a spectacular ice cave which has been built every winter since 2005. With ice carvings inside for you to explore with or without kids!
At the top of the Arpette lift you will find the funslope, open all season but best enjoyed in the sunshine of course. The ski course takes you under bridges, over jumps, through obstacles, you get where we’re going with this. You can get pictures of yourself descending the funslope with a tap of your ski pass and using the Yuge App! You can also get pictures all over the Paradiski area using this app, our favourite is on the Colorado chairlift!
From the 9th until the 15th April, Subli’cimes is back! All over the La Plagne Resort you will find different areas all offering free fun, games, drinks, activities. A few years ago they offered free massages on top of the mountain or a giant bungee catapult! This year they range from a giant ball pool, a fully immersive Alice in wonderland themed area, snowball fights, DJs, cocktails and much more! Check out all the program here.
